Abstract

With international accounting and financial reporting standards, fair va- lue accounting has emerged to allow fair and reliable presentation of the information which will take place on the financial statements. The purpose of the fair value approach is to determine the most accurate and appropriate price which will take place at the measurement date about selling an asset or to transfer a liability between market participants. At the fair value accounting, different from current tax system, at the transformation and reporting of current financial statements to accounting and reporting standards there are deferred tax differencies. The demonst- ration of the effect on tax liability or tax existence pursuant to the current tax law in the case which firms create their assets and liabilities with fair value at the reporting date is the objective of this study. If the temporary differencies caused by fair value accounting has an effect to raise the ac- counting profit of the firm at the related term, this reveals deferred tax lia- bility and if it has an effect to reduce the accounting profit, reveals deferred tax existance.
