Abstract

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the effect of long term continously estrogen and progesteron replacement therapy on endometrial histology and uterine bleeding in postmenopausal women. METHODS: Endometrial thickness were followed by endovaginal ultrasonograpy in 23 postmenopausal women taking continuous estrogen and progestin replacement therapy during the past 5 years. Endometrial biopsy samliles were taken periodically. RESUL TS: In the thirty percent of cases, irregular vaginal bleeding occured after amenoreic period was induced. In seventy percent of amenoreic patients endometrial biopsy revealed atrofic histology: CONCLUSIONS: Long term continuous estrogen progestin hormone replacement therapy diminished uterine bleeding and induced inactive endometrium formation in postmenopausal women: thus it seems to be a safe and effective treatment modality.

Özet

AMAÇ: Uzun süreli kont i nü hormon replasman tedavisinin endometrial histoloji ve isterin kanama üzerine etkilerini değerlendirmektir.
