Abstract

AIM: The purpose of this study is to verify the sensitivity of the liver function tests in the detection of duct stones. MATERIAL AND METHOD: We evaluated 46 patients retrospectively. In every case, blood samples for liver function tests levels are collected prior to endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticography. RESULTS: ALP was elevated in %82.2,of the patients with choledocholithiasis. Taking as cut off point any elevation above normal, the sensitivity for the remaining liver function tests was; ALT 44.4% AST 45.6%, GGT 68.9%, T.bilirubin 45.4%. ALT was the least sensitive parameter. CONCLUSION: Liver function tests are very sensitive in the detection of common bile duct stones. These blood tests are in the normal range of about 16.2% of endoscopically treated patients.

Özet

AMAÇ: Safra yolları taşlarının tayininde karaciğer fonksiyon testlerinin (KCFT) sensitivitesinin belirlenmesi GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Retrospektif olarak 46 hasta incelemeye alındı. Her vakadan, ERCP öncesi alınan kan örneklerinde KCFT düzeyi çalışıldı. BULGULAR: Alkalen fosfataz (ALP) düzeyi, koledokolitiyazisli hastaların %82.2'sinde yüksek bulundu. KCFT sensitivitesi, ALT %44.4; AST %45.6, GGT %68.9, t.bilirubin %45.4 olup, cut off değerleri normalin üzerindeydi. ALT en az sensitif parametreydi. SONUÇ: KCFT, safra kanalı taşlarının tayininde oldukça sensitiftir. Bu testler 7 hastada (%16,2) normal bulunmuştur.
