Abstract

In this study, the earthquake behaviors of piles in different soil conditions have been investigated by using finite element method. A pile model with 1 m diameter and 10m fixed length in 10m x 10m soil was modeled with finite element methodology. The soil and pile have been modeled in three-dimension. Eleven different soil profiles have been defined with different thickness of the sand and clay layers. Dynamic analysis has been realized by using time history analysis. As a result, maximum horizontal and lateral displacements and base shears have been obtained. It has been observed that the change at the soil structure is significantly important for interacted soil-pile system.
