Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether maternal serum inhibin-A levels could predict the development of preeclampsia in low risk group. STUDY DESIGN: One-hundred-twelve pregnant women with low risk were included to this longitudinal prospective study according to 95 % confidence interval. Blood samples were taken at 9-16, 18-24 and 28-33 weeks of gestation and inhibin-A levels were measured by ELISA. While the patients who subsequently developed late onset preeclampsia assigned to the preeclamptic group, the others assigned to the control group. Demographic characteristics and inhibin-A levels were compared by using SPSS for Windows. RESULTS: Preeclampsia developed in 10 of 86 pregnant women (11.6 %) between 34 and 37 weeks of gestation (median=35,2 wk). No significant differences were found in the levels of maternal inhibin-A between preeclamptic and healthy women at the end of the study CONCLUSION: Maternal inhibin-A level measurement is not a clinically useful marker in prediction of late onset preeclampsia in low risk group.

Özet

Preeklampsi gelişimi açısından düşük risk taşıyan grupta maternal serum inhibin A seviyelerine bakılarak preeklampsi gelişimini önceden tespit edip edemeyeceğimizi araştırdığımız bu longitüdinal çalışmamıza, % 95 güven aralığında 112 düşük riskli gebe dahil edildi. 9-16, 18-24 ve 28-33. gebelik haftalarında alınan venöz kan örneklerinde ELIZA yöntemi ile inhibin A seviyelerine bakıldı. Takipleri sırasında preeklampsi gelişen hastalar preeklamptik gruba alınırken, geri kalan hastalar kontrol grubunu oluşturdu. Grupların demografik özellikleri ve inhibin A seviyeleri SPSS programı kullanılarak karşılaştırıldı.
