Abstract
Placental hemangioma is one of the primary non-trophoblastic tumors of the placenta. Most placental hemangiomas are of no clinical importance but those measuring more than 5 cm in diameter may be associated with a variety of complications which can affect the mother, the developing fetus or the neonate. Ultrasonography is helpful in the prenatal diagnosis of hemangioma; however other placental and uterine abnormalities with similar sonographic appearances should be considered in the differential diagnosis.
