Abstract

The increased prevalence of feet dermatomycosis in systemic disease like diabetes mellitus and Behçet's disease and also in places where people live together like student dormitories, army camp and sport center are highly noticeable. In this study, feet dermatomycoses were diagnosed in 14 (3.4 %) of 386 long term chronic psychiatric patients and its causative agents respectively isolated as; Trichophyton rubrum, Candida albicans and T. Mentagrophytes. As a result, it has been detected that the age, sex, duration of hospital stay and the type of psychiatric illness of patients have no influence on the prevalence of feet dermatomycosis.
