Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical measurement scores obtained with subepithelial tissue grau technique in root coverage between the baseline and six months. In this study, 20 areas of recession with Miller I and Il type defects have been selected. The clinical measurements which were taken at baseline included plaque index, gingival index, proximal sulcus depth, interdental papillae width, probing sulcus depth, vertical gingival recession, horizontal gingival recession, keratinized gingival width and clinical attachment level. These measurements have been repeated at the end of 3rd and 6th month. Average gingival recession was found 3.95 mm following the .initial measurements. Mean gingival recession reduction was measured 3.4 mm, representing a mean of root coverage of 86% by the end of sixth month. In the same time clinical attachment level and keratinized tissue width gain were measured 4.100 mm and 2.100 mm respectively. These differences were evaluated statistically significant. Smoking, recession width, tooth localization and papillae width were not found statistically correlated with root coverage. According to the results obtained following the research, supepithelial connective tissue graft technique was evaluated as a successful method in root coverage.
