Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in major industrial countries. The inflammatory response plays an important role in the potentiation of central nervous system (CNS) iscemie injury. Inflammatory response is mediated by cytokines. In this study we investigated two of the cytokines: interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor - alpha (TNF-alpha) in an experimentally induced stroke (n=12) mice group and sham (n=9) mice group. Stroke caused significant increases both on the levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha in the stroke group (P=000).

Özet

Strok endüstriyel ülkelerde ölüm ve sakatlığa yol açan hastalıkların önde gelenlerinden birisidir. Santral sinir sistemindeki iskemik hasarın artmasında enflamatuvar cevap önemli yer tutar. Sitokinler enflamatuvar cevabı yönlendiren mediatörlerdir. Bu çalışmada deneysel strok oluşturulan farelerle (n=12) sham operasyonu uygulanan farelerin (n=9) iki majör sitokin düzeyleri, serum interlökin-6(IL-6) ve tümör nekrozis faktör - alfa (TNF-alfa) saptandı. Stroklu farelerin serum IL-6 ve TNF-alfa düzeyleri sham grubuna göre anlamlı düzeyde artmış bulundu(P=000)
