Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the prevalence of Parvovirus B19 infection in children aged 0-12 years, applying with complaints such as fever, skin rash and artralgia and negative Rheumatoid Factor (RF). Methods: 100 patients applying with aforementioned complaints were used in the study. Of these, six patients were excluded because of RF positivity. Parvovirus B19 IgM antibodies were investigated by ELISA in 94 patients. Results: At the end of the study, parvovirus B19 IgM antibodies were found in 14 patients (14.9%). Of these, 1 patient (7.1%) was aged 0-1; 4 patients (28.6%) were aged 2-5; 9 patients (64.3%) were aged 6-12 years. Conclusion: It was concluded that in patients with complaints such as fever, skin rash and joint complaints, especially in childhood, parvovirus B19 infection should be thought.
