Abstract

Objective: The finding of appendix vermiformis within the sac of inguinal hernia has been determined as “Amyand’s hernia”. It has been approximately found in 1 % of cases of inguinal hernias. It has been encountered incidentally during the surgical procedure. In preoperative period, its diagnosis is almost impossible. Case report: We aimed to report a case of “Amyand hernia”, an extremely rare pathology, operated with the diagnosis of right inguinal and umbilical hernia and determined incidentally in a 48 year-old man. Conclusion: This rare pathoglogy should be kept in mind in every hernia repair.
