Abstract

Objective: In this study, we aimed to investigate of demographic characteristics, laboratory findings and risk factors of children diagnosed with asthma in Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Clinic, retrospectively. Material and Method: Between January 2010 and January 2015, the clinical characteristics and laboratory findings of 786 children with allergic asthma between 5-18 years were evaluated. Results: The children in the study, 58.5% were boys and 41.5% were girls and mean age was found to be 9 years. The most common sensitization in children with asthma were determined as grass pollens in 44.5%, cereals pollens in 42.7%, Dermatophagoides farinae in 38.5%, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus in 37%, outdoor mold mixture in 20.6%, weed pollens in 18.1%. Furthermore, familial atopy 66.9%, kinship between parents in 28.8 %, owning a pet in 15.4%, visible mold at home in 15%, and a history of smoking in home in 45% was detected. Asthma accompanied by other allergic diseases, rhinitis was found in 55.8%, atopic dermatitis in 10.4%, urticaria in 2.9% (n=37), food allergy in 2.3%, and drug allergy in 1.1% were detected by patient's medical histories. Conclusion: The determination of the risk factors and clinical features of childhood asthma is very important to reduce the frequency and the severity of the asthma attacks

Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan çocukların, %58.5'i erkek, %41.5'i kız ve yaş ortalaması 9 yıl idi. Astımlı çocuklarda en sık duyarlanma, %44.5'inde ot polenlerine, %42.7'sinde tahıl polenlerine, %38.5'inde Dermatophagoides farinae' a, %37'sinde Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus' a, %20.6'sındadış ortam mantar karışımına, %18.1'inde yabani ot polenlerine karşı tespit edildi. Ayrıca, hastaların anemnezlerinde, %66.9'unda ailesel atopi, %28.8'inde anne-baba arasında akrabalık, %15.4'ünde evcil hayvan besleme, %15'inde evde görünür şekilde küf bulunması ve %45'inde evde sigara içme öyküsü tespit edildi. Astıma eşlik eden diğer alerjik hastalıklar olarak, %55.8'inde rinit, %10.4'ünde atopik dermatit, %2.9'unda kronik ürtiker, %2.3'ünde besin alerjisi ve %1.1'inde ilaç alerjisi bulundu. Sonuç: Çocukluk çağında astıma neden olabilecek risk faktörleri ile klinik özelliklerinin belirlenmesi, atak sıklığının ve şiddetinin azaltılmasında oldukça önemlidir
