Abstract

Women are more exposed to traumatic life events in all over the world. For example, domestic violence is a chronic public health problem, which affects women in all societies and socioeconomic groups and causes many physical, psychosocial problems for women. Severity of trauma, its duration, presence of comorbid different traumatic events, personality traits and history of psychiatric disorders increases the likelihood of development of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). On the other hand, good psychosocial support protects against it. This study is a case report. Thirty-six years old patient had symptoms of PTSD as well as depressive symptoms that accompanied them since puberty. This study discussed the diagnosis of PTSD in women, comorbid conditions to PTSD, facilitating factors for PTSD, and treatment methods. Psychodynamic formulation has been reached on the basis of evaluation of the psychiatric disorder history, psychodynamic and psychosocial history and psychological tests.
