Abstract

This study focused on comparison of shearstrengths of some tropical wood speciesiroko (Chlorophora), mahogany (Swietenia sp.), limba (Terminaliasuperba) glued with different adhesivesPolyurethane assembly adhesive (Pu-Mon), Polyurethane Marine sealant (Pu-Ma), Polyvinylacetate(PVAc-MA22), Polyvinylacetate(PVAc-MA35), Polyvinylacetate (PVAc-MA50). The wood samples are prepared according to standarts. After the samples are glued, shear strength under the static load is determinated with tensile test according to TS EN 205. In the experimental groups the highest values were obtained from Pu-Ma (14.35 N/mm2)and PVAc-MA35 (13.74 N/mm2) bonded mahogany samples and the lowest values were obtained from Pu-Monbonded limba samples (4.48 N/mm2).Finally, according to the adhesive types, it was found that PVAc-MA35 has the highest shear strength value(10.67 N/mm2) and because of not having any ingredient in terms of health, it is possible to recommend it for montage
