Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the lifetime psychopathology according to DSM-IV criteria in mothers and fathers of children followed up with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Method: The samples were consisted of the parents of 118 children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and 115 children with enuresis nokturna (EN). For assesment semi-structured socio demographic form, Turgay ADHD scale and SCID-I were used. Results: The rates of mood (%12.3) and anxiety disorders (%8.1) in parents of ADHD children were found statistically significantly higher than the parents of EN children (respectively %4.8, %3.5).In parents of children with ADHD, of sixteen (%6.8) have met criteria for adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. %62.5 of adult ADHD were female. Comorbidies of mood disorders (%12.5) and anxiety disorders (%25) (mostly; panic disorder and obssesive compulsive disorder) were determined in ADHD adults. Conclusion: We have concluded that; the investigations of possible gender differences in familial transmission of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and comorbid other psychiatric disorders should be planned, adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and comorbidities might be a distinct familial subtype so that to support this, further family and biolgical studies supposed to be conducted and also we need follow- up studies to determine if attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, the comorbid disorder or both persist over time.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada, dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB) tanısı ile izlenen çocukların anne ve babalarındaki yaşam boyu psikopatolojinin DSM-IV ölçütlerine göre araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma grupları 118 dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB) ve 115 enürezis nokturna (EN) tanıları ile izlenen çocukların ebeveynlerinden oluşturulmuştur. Değerlendirmeler için yarı yapılandırılmış sosyodemografik form, Turgay DEHB ölçeği ve SCID-I kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: DEHB tanılı çocukların ebeveynlerde duygudurum bozukluğu (%12.3) ve anksiyete bozukluğu (%8.1) bulunma oranı EN tanılı çocukların ebeveynlerinde bulunma oranından (sırasıyla %4.8, %3.5) istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunmuştur. DEHB tanılı çocukların ebeveynlerinden onaltısı (%6.8) erişkin tip DEHB tanı ölçütlerini doldurmuştur. Erişkin DEHB tanısı alanların %62.5 i kadındır. Erişkin tip DEHB tanısı alanların %12.5’inde duygudurum bozukluğu ve %25’inde anksiyete bozukluğu (çoğunlukla panik bozukluğu ve obsesif kompulsif bozukluk) eştanıları saptanmıştır. Sonuç: Dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu ve eştanılı diğer psikiyatrik bozuklukların ailesel geçişindeki olası cinsiyet farklılıkları araştırmalarının planlanması gerektiği, erişkin tip dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu ve eştanılı durumların ayrı birer ailesel alt tip olabileceği; öyle ki, bunu desteklemeye yönelik ileri aile ve biyolojik çalışmalar yapılmasının uygun olacağı ve ayrıca dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu, eştanılı bozukluk veya her ikisinin de zaman içinde sürekliliğini belirlemek için izlem çalışmalarına ihtiyaç duyulduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
