Abstract

Long QT Syndrome is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous syndrome characterized by prolonged QT interval on ECG, ventricular arrhythmias, Torsade’s de pointes, syncope and sudden death caused by ventricular fibrillation. A 24-years-old male Who did not have a history of a chronic disease and who was using antibiotics prescribed by an ENT specialist to the last 3-4 days because of a sore throat. A cardiac arrest occurred at home with a convulsion for 2-3 minutes. The patient's rhythm was re- gained at the emergency room after 40 minute resuscitation. The intubated patient was transferred to intensive care unit and me- chanical ventilation was maintained in SIMV mode. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) was not inserted due to un- stable hemodynamics. Despite intensive inotropic support, hypotension was deepened and after 72 hours patient died after an un- responsive CPR.
