Turkic people have been known as excellent warriors since the beginning of their own history. As a result of this, thousands of years old Turkish military culture has unique technics in many ways. However, there are not enough researchers who study on this topic. Examining the Turkish weapon terminology is one of the best ways to determine unique technics of Turkish military culture. Book of Dede Korkut with its unmatched content, shows us the way to understand Turkish military history. Özet
Türkler, bilinen tarihlerinin başlangıcından itibaren savaşma kabiliyeti yüksek bir halk olarak bilinmektedirler. Binlerce yıl geriye giden Türk askerî kültürü, birçok açıdan eşsiz uygulamalara sahiptir. Fakat konu üzerine çalışan araştırmacı sayısı oldukça yetersizdir. Türk askerî kültürünün kökenlerini ve uygulamalarını görmek için araştırılacak en önemli başvuru kaynaklarından birisi de kuşkusuz Türk silah terminolojisidir. Dede Korkut Kitabı, Türklüğün erken dönemlerine ait birçok konuda içerdiği eşsiz bilgilerle, Türk silah terminolojisi konusuna da ışık tutmaktadır. Bu inceleme, Dede Korkut Kitabı içerisinde yer alan silah terim ve tasvirleri arasında ok ve yay ile ilgili olanları ortaya koymayı ve bu kavramları fauna ve flora terminolojisi ile karşılaştırmalı olarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır
