Abstract

This research started to diversify the product range of the Turkish Textile Industry aimed to evaluate naturally-colored cotton genotypes relevant to corservation of ecology. In the study carried out in Menemen, Ödemiş and Nazilli conditions of Ege Region as two years (1997 and 1998), 6 colored cotton lines (4 brown, 2 green) together -with 3 white-fibers cottons were tested. At the result of the project, Light-Brown Line had fiber length in the range of 33.9-30.2 mm and seed-cotton yield between 290-219 kg/da. Dark-Brown Line provided fiber length 26.0-25.9 mm and seed-cotton yield as 458.0-376.1 kg/da. Green-colored cottons fell behind the other genotypes. Using fibers of Light-Brown Line, yarn and T-shirts were produced.
