Abstract

In this study, the bit error rate (BER) performance of the Afin Frequency Division Multiplexing (AFDM) system which is intended for use in high-mobility wireless communication systems in Weibull attenuated channels was comprehensively investigated. The performance of Zero Force (ZF), Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE), Log Odds Ratio (LLR), and Maximum Likelihood (ML) detectors is compared. Furthermore, the effects of the shape (β) and scale (λ) parameters of the Weibull channel, as well as BPSK, 4-QAM, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM modulations, on system performance are evaluated. Simulation results show that AFDM exhibits effective performance in Weibull channels, and that ML and LLR detectors, in particular, provide lower BER values. It was also observed that increasing the β and λ parameters improves system performance, while error rates increase at higher modulation levels, as expected. The results show that AFDM is a suitable candidate for future wireless communication systems in high mobility scenarios with Weibull fading.
