Abstract
The vocabulary of a language reflects the geographical environment in which a society lives, its sources of livelihood, and the tools and equipment it uses. Since tool and equipment names refer to tangible objects and are quickly forgotten when these objects fall out of use, they constitute an important subject of study in dialect research from both cultural and linguistic perspectives. This study aims to identify the names of tools and equipment related to agriculture and animal husbandry in the dialects of the provinces of the Black Sea Region and to determine their meanings and areas of use. The scope of the study comprises 54 sources focusing on the dialects of the following provinces in the Black Sea Region: Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Gümüşhane, Bayburt, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Amasya, Tokat, Çorum, Sinop, Kastamonu, Karabük, Bartın, Zonguldak, Düzce, and Bolu. The tool and equipment names examined are directly associated with the region's cultural and economic life and constitute an important part of its dialect vocabulary. The findings indicate that some tool and equipment names related to agriculture and animal husbandry identified in the Black Sea Region are used exclusively in certain localities. The results reveal the richness of the dialect vocabulary of the provinces of the Black Sea Region and demonstrate the influence of traditional production culture on language. The study is significant in that it illustrates how traditional production culture is reflected in the vocabulary of regional dialects.
