Abstract
Aim Patient education, which has become an important part of the healthcare system in developed countries, has an even more important place in the healthcare system. In this context, a review of postgraduate studies on patient education will provide an up-todate report on awareness of the importance of this issue. The aim of this study is to examine the reflection of patient education in postgraduate theses. Method By scanning the National Thesis database of the Council of Higher Education in Turkey, theses on patient education written between 1990 and 2024 were discussed. In this study, 42 theses, whose full texts were available and published in the National Thesis Center database of the Council of Higher Education between 1990 and 2024, were examined. Results It was determined that 93% (n=40) of the existing theses were carried out by departments affiliated with the Health Sciences Institute. When the distribution of theses according to their subject content and sample size was examined, it was determined that patient education in diseases and operations came first and the sample density was between 50-100. Conclusions It is believed that the orientation towards patient education within the educator identity, which is one of the primary roles and duties of health professionals, is low in postgraduate study areas and its importance has not yet been sufficiently recognised.

Amaç Gelişmekte olan ülkelerde sağlık sisteminin kilit noktası haline gelen hasta eğitimi önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu bağlamda hasta eğitimi konusunda yapılan lisansüstü çalışmaların gözden geçirilmesi bu konunun öneminin farkındalığı açısından güncel bir rapor sunacaktır. Bu çalışmanın amacı “hasta eğitimi” konusunun lisansüstü tezlere yansımasını incelemektir. Yöntem Türkiye’de Yükseköğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez veri tabanı taranarak 1990-2024 yılları arasında yapılmış hasta eğitimi konulu tezler tartışılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, 1990-2024 yıllarında Yükseköğretim Kurulu Ulusal Tez Merkezi veri tabanı içerisinde yayımlanmış olan, tam metnine ulaşılabilen 42 tez incelenmiştir. Bulgular Mevcut tezlerin %93’ünün (n=40) Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsüne bağlı bölümler tarafından gerçekleştirildiği saptanmıştır. Tezlerin konu içeriklerine ve örneklem büyüklüklerine göre dağılımları incelendiğinde ilk sırada hastalık ve operasyonlarda hasta eğitiminin geldiği; örneklemin yoğunluk olarak 50- 100 aralığında olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç Sağlık çalışanlarının birincil rol ve görevleri arasında yer alan, eğitimci kimliği kapsamındaki hasta eğitimine yönelimin, lisansüstü çalışma alanlarında düşük olduğu ve öneminin henüz yeterince farkına varılmadığı düşünülmektedir.
