Abstract

Objective: Although it is estimated that 25-50 % of infants and young children have feeding problems, and feeding disorder is present in 1-2 % of infants, researches about feeding disorders in infants and young children are very limited. In this article, we aimed to review studies on infantile anorexia which is a recently described feeding disorder. Method: Studies about feeding disorders of infancy-early childhood and infantile anorexia were searched, and data about the definition, classification, diagnostic criteria, etiology, clinical features, differential diagnosis, and treatment of these disorders were evaluated. Results: Although most of them are conducted by specific investigators, findings on diagnosis, etiologic causes and treatment modalities are replied in different studies. Discussion: Further investigations about infantile anorexia which will be conducted in Turkish population would be helpful to find the intercultural differences in this disorder.
