Abstract

Dental avulsion is among the most severe traumatic oral injuries, especially in pediatric patients. Immediate replantation provides the best prognosis, but it may not always be feasible if the tooth cannot be located or if the patient presents late. Failure to replant an avulsed anterior tooth can lead to aesthetic, functional, and psychosocial complications, particularly in children involved in contact sports or high-impact activities. A 10-year-old male patient presented with an avulsed maxillary central incisor (#11) following a stair-related fall four days earlier. Radiographic examination confirmed luxation of tooth #21, treated with a flexible splint for three weeks. Due to the loss of tooth #11 and the patient’s involvement in sports, a fixed-tooth Nance appliance was fabricated to restore aesthetics and function while maintaining space. The patient and his parents received guidance on appliance care, oral hygiene, and routine follow-ups. When immediate replantation is not feasible, interim prosthetic management with a fixed appliance helps preserve function and appearance. Proper oral hygiene and regular follow-ups are essential to minimize complications and ensure successful management of traumatic dental injuries.
