Abstract

Primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) is a clinically unique entity arising predominantly as lymphomatous effusion within body cavities such as pleural, pericardial, and peritoneal spaces, typically without any accompanying extracavitary masses. Extracavitary or solid variant of PEL is a different entity which has rarely been described. Bronchoesophageal fistula (BEF) is a life-threatening complication of thoracic diseases resulting continuous pulmonary aspiration of food and saliva, which consequently leads to recurrent pulmonary infection and sepsis. In this work a case of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-negative, human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8)-positive patient with esophageal involvement of PEL who developed BEF after receiving systemic chemotherapy was presented
