Abstract

This study examined the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between family health and post-traumatic growth in adults. Data were collected from 281 participants aged between 18 and 65 who had experienced at least one traumatic life event. The study utilized the Family Health Scale, the Post-Traumatic Growth Inventory, and the Short Form of the Self-Compassion Scale. Findings revealed a significant positive relationship between family health and post-traumatic growth. Moreover, self-compassion was found to significantly mediate this relationship. High levels of self-compassion contributed to individuals’ positive evaluation of their post-traumatic experiences. These results highlight the importance of both healthy family environments and self-compassion in fostering positive psychological development following trauma.
