Abstract

This study aims to examine the literature on digital transformation in the tourism sector using a systematic and quantitative approach. The research aims to contribute to the literature by systematically mapping the evolution and intellectual framework of digital transformation in tourism businesses over the last twenty years. In the Web of Science (WoS) database, 316 academic studies were identified under the "Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism" category using the keywords "digital transformation" and "digital tourism". Using data obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) database, bibliometric analysis, a quantitative research method, was employed to identify the most contributing authors, journals, institutions, and keywords in the field. The 316 articles obtained from the Web of Science database were subjected to co-author, author citation, keyword co-occurrence, and bibliographic matching analyses using VOSviewer software. The aim was to map the thematic clusters and collaboration patterns of digital transformation studies focusing on hospitality businesses during the specified period, to highlight dominant research trends and understudied subtopics in the field, and to provide a methodological and conceptual framework for subsequent empirical studies. The findings show that the literature clusters around central authors such as Rob Law and Marianna Sigala; and that artificial intelligence, meta verse, and sustainability concepts have recently come to the forefront. The analysis results... This study reveals that dynamic capabilities and strategic talent management play a critical role in successfully managing digital transformation. The work provides researchers and industry professionals with a comprehensive road-map of the current state of the literature and future trends.

Web of Science (WoS) veri tabanında “Ağırlama, Eğlence, Spor ve Turizm (Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Tourism) kategorisinde “dijital dönüşüm” ve “dijital turizm” anahtar kelimesi kullanılarak 316 akademik çalışma belirlenmiştir.
