Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the predictive effect of role conflict on quiet quitting behaviors among physical education and sports teachers. The sample of the study consists of 157 physical education and sports teachers selected by convenience sampling method. The "Quiet Quitting Scale" and "Role Conflict Scale" were used as data collection tools. In addition to descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were applied for data analysis. Research findings revealed a statistically significant, positive, and moderate relationship between role conflict and quiet quitting among physical education and sports teachers (r=0.598, p<0.001). According to the results of hierarchical regression analysis, after controlling for demographic variables (age, gender, marital status), role conflict was found to explain 35.2% of the variance in quiet quitting behavior alone. On the other hand, it was determined that demographic variables such as age, gender, and marital status had no significant predictive effect on quiet quitting. Consequently, it is understood that the conflict between the "teacher" and "coach" roles assumed by physical education and sports teachers is one of the strongest factors driving them toward a process of quiet quitting, characterized by minimal effort and psychological disengagement.
