Abstract

Objective: We would like to discuss a case diagnosed as adenocarcinoma of appendix, which has a diffuse intrabdominal metastasis and also has pseudomyxoma peritonei with the contemporary literature. Case report: As the result of the laparatomy process performed to the patient prediagnosed with intraabdominal mass lesion, diffuse metastasis and signs of pseudomyxoma peritonei. In exploration of gastrointestinal system, there has been nodular lesions determined on the appendix and therefore appendectomy has been carried out. It has been seen that the primary tumor has been originated from appendix. Discussion: In cases with adenocarcinoma of appendix, diffuse intaabdominal and ovarian metastasis can be seen. This can make a confusion about primary ovarian malignancies. As a result this issue can affect the surgical procedure and also the postoperative adjuvant treatment modalities. That is why in patients with adnexial mass lesions, particular examination of intestinal system especially appendix should be performed.
