Abstract

Manisa (Magnesia ad Sipylum) as one of well-known cities of ancient periods, continued to be an important center as the capital city of Sarukhanids and the city that as a provincial center under the rule of Ottoman Princes. As result of its long history, Manisa has had many historical buildings and it becomes a Museum-City. Ottoman Sultan Murad II ordered to build as palace (known as Şehzadegan) at Manisa. During the reign of Sultan Mehmed II the palace is expanded with additional structures. This palace continued to function until 1595; after that it started to demolish quickly. Several studies and documents show that there were 3 hammams in the palace of Manisa. One of the hammams was located close to Fatih Tower and in the courtyard of Yaralı Khan, a later periods’ structure. The palace is destroyed in 1950. During a rescue excavation in the year of 2003, the foundations of the palace are recovered.
