Abstract

With digital transformation, academic knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary interaction have increasingly shifted from traditional channels to social media platforms. This study aims to examine the digital structuring, interaction patterns, and information diffusion dynamics of the Management Information Systems (MIS) ecosystem in Turkey through a YouTube-based analysis. The dataset was analyzed through an integrated framework combining Social Network Analysis (SNA), community detection, projection analysis, and text mining. The findings show that the MIS interaction network is low-density yet largely connected, with ties concentrated around a limited number of actors and a heavy-tailed, heterogeneous degree structure. Centrality results indicate that visibility, accessibility, and brokerage roles are not concentrated in the same actors; while some actors emerge as interaction hubs, others occupy bridging positions across clusters. Community detection and projection analysis further reveal that the MIS digital ecosystem is not homogeneous, but rather displays a modular structure shaped by different interest and information orientations. Time-series and k-core analyses show that the network expands over time while also displaying periodic interaction peaks and a more tightly connected core substructure. Rule-based sentiment analysis suggests a mildly positive lexical tendency in the comment texts. Overall, the study demonstrates that digital interactions in the MIS field should be evaluated not only in terms of content, but also together with structural positions, community patterns, and temporal dynamics; this perspective may provide complementary insights into student information needs, content strategies, and departmental communication practices.
