Abstract

This article examines Catherine Malabou’s critique of Michel Foucault’s conception of biopolitics through two key texts, “The King’s Two (Biopolitical) Bodies” and Au voleur! Anarchisme et philosophie. The aim of the study is to investigate whether Malabou’s assessment of Foucault changes over time, to question whether the distinction she previously identified between the biological and the symbolic has in fact been overcome, and finally, to analyze where the practice of Cynic parrhesia, which for Malabou represents the point at which Foucault comes closest to ungovernability, stands within this biological symbolic divide. Within this framework, the article argues that sovereignty does not disappear entirely within biopolitical rationality but is reintroduced into the governance of life through norms, statistics, and security mechanisms. It concludes that this persistence of sovereignty is due to the fact that Cynic parrhesia, while offering an ethical and embodied form of resistance, cannot be implemented on a social scale without plasticity and mutual aid.

Özet

Bu makale, Catherine Malabou’nun Michel Foucault’nun biyopolitika anlayışına yönelttiği eleştiriyi iki temel metin, “The King’s Two (Biopolitical) Bodies” ve Au voleur!
