Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate whether there is a relationship between menopausal hot flash symptoms and physical activity levels in menopausal women. Methods: The data of this descriptive study consists of women (n=98) between the ages of 45-65 and in the menopausal period. As a data collection tool, participants were asked to use a demographic information form, the "International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) Short Form" to determine their physical activity levels, and data on menopausal hot flashes were collected using the "Menopause-Specific Hot Flashes Scale". Normality test was applied to the data obtained and it was determined that it showed normal distribution. Statistical significance level was accepted as p<0.05. Independent samples t test was used for pairwise group comparisons in data analysis. One Way ANOVA analysis was used to compare means of more than two groups. Results: According to the research findings, it was determined that there was a significant relationship between menopausal hot flashes and women's physical activity levels (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results of the study, it was determined that hot flash symptoms were less common in women who engaged in vigorous physical activities, moderate physical activities, walking activities and did sports than in women who did low-intensity physical activities and did not do sports.

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada menopoz dönemi kadınlarda gelişen menopoza özgü sıcak basması semptomlarının ve fiziksel aktivite düzeyleri arasında ilişki olup olmadığını araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı türde yapılmış olan bu çalışmanın verileri 45-65 yaş aralığında, menopoz dönemindeki kadınlardan (n=98) oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak katılımcılara demografik bilgi formu, fiziksel aktivite düzeylerini belirlemek için “Uluslararası Fiziksel Aktivite Anketi (IPAQ) Kısa Form”, menopoz dönemi sıcak basması hakkında veriler “Menopoza Özgü Sıcak Basması Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Elde edilen verilere normallik testi uygulanmış ve normal dağılım gösterdiği tespit edilmiştir. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p<0,05 olarak kabul edilmiştir. Veri analizinde ikili grup karşılaştırmaları için bağımsız örnekler t testi kullanılmıştır. İkiden fazla grubun ortalamalarını karşılaştırmak için One Way ANOVA analizi kullanılmıştır.
