Abstract
This systematic review examines 58 studies (11 theses, 47 articles) published in Türkiye between 2000–2024 on problems experienced by preschool teachers. The search, guided by PRISMA principles, drew on the YÖK National Thesis Centre (YÖK Tez), TR Dizin, Google Scholar, and the Turkish Education Index. The findings show that all theses were at master’s level, with no doctoral theses identified. Across the corpus, quantitative and cross-sectional designs were used frequently, and no longitudinal studies were found in either the theses or the articles. Samples predominantly comprised teachers working in public schools; studies focusing on male teachers and school leaders were limited. The most commonly investigated topics were demographic characteristics, occupational burnout, job satisfaction, and fundamental problems of preschool education. Secondary clusters addressed principal–teacher relations, communication with families, professional competence, in-service training needs, and shortages in physical resources and materials. Less frequently examined areas included education for refugee children, bilingual education, pandemic-related stress, earthquake anxiety, and noise exposure. In conclusion, at the policy level, the establishment of career ladders and fair remuneration is recommended; at the school level, supportive leadership, in-service training centred on behaviour management, and structured mentoring should be prioritised; and at the research level, longitudinal and mixed-methods designs, together with studies centred on male teachers and teachers in private schools, should be encouraged.
