Abstract

Enhancing the performance of combined cycle power plants (CCPP) requires optimizing the design, operation and plant maintenance. Energy and exergy analysis is a beneficial mechanism for improving overall efficiency and lowering irreversibility in the power plant. This paper aims to review the thermodynamic analysis includes energy analysis, exergy analysis or energy and exergy analysis of combined power plant. It was found that the design of heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) plays a pivotal role in combined cycle power plant (CCPP) performance decreasing waste thermal energy and increasing overall power output a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) with a triple pressure level (TP) minimizes energy losses and increases the efficiency of the power plant. Exergoeconomic analysis also plays a significant role in enhancing performance and increasing investment in the power plant by optimizing economic costs. Moreover, this review highlighted related problems to facilitate future work and recommendations for enhancing the design of combined cycle power plants (CCPP), which optimizes energy generation and lowers greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate detrimental environmental effects.
