Abstract

Periodontium and pulp interacts through the apical foramen, lateral canals, accessory canals and dentinal tubules. The prognosis of combined endodontic periodontal lesions is often poor, especially when periodontal lesions are chronic with extensive loss of attachment. Successful treatment of combined lesions is only possible with the simultaneous application of endodontic and periodontal therapies. This case report describes the diagnosis and management of left mandibular second molar with a necrotic pulp and severe periodontal destruction associated with a deep mesial periodontal pocket extending to the root apex and presented successful elimination of infection by a multidisciplinary approach included periodontal and endodontic treatment.
