Abstract

Objective: Simulation-based training is an integral part of the midwifery curriculum and is used as a way to teach students in rare cases, such as in obstetric emergencies. The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of simulation use in midwifery skills training. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using simulation in training of midwifery skills. Methods: The research is cross-sectional and prospective study. The sample was not selected in the study, the universe was taken. The data were obtained second, third and fourth year midwifery students (N=195) in Birth FullSystem Simulation Laboratory. The study data were collected by using the “Problem Solving Inventory” and the the “Simulation Effectiveness Evaluation Form”. Analysis of data was calculated using the with the number, percentage, mean, t- test, oneway ANOVA test and Post hoc Tukey's test, correlation. Results: The mean age of students was 21.49 ± 2.27, second grade was 44.6%, third grade was 26.7%, the fourth grade was 28.7%. "Simulation helped me to better understand the care and treatment" and "Assessment and group work was worth" was found statistically significant difference in expression of students. (p 0,05). Conclusion: The use of simulation has been found that to be effective in midwifery skills training and enhance students' problem-solving skills.
