Abstract

This study aims to examine the theoretical interaction and literary evolution among the concepts of Life Orientation (optimism/pessimism), Organizational Justice, and Organizational Commitment in the business literature through a bibliometric projection. A search was conducted on the Web of Science (WoS) database without any time constraints, and the resulting bibliographic data were visualized using VOSviewer software. Conceptual mapping (co-occurrence), intellectual structure analysis (co-citation), and overlay (time-oriented) mapping techniques were utilized. To enhance methodological validity, specific threshold values were determined for the units of analysis (minimum author citations ≥ 111, author keywords ≥ 5). The results suggest that the literature has theoretically consolidated around the axes of justice and commitment, influenced by authority figures such as Meyer and Colquitt (TLS > 10,000). However, the connectivity of Life Orientation components within this structure appears relatively nascent (TLS = 2). Overlay mapping indicates that the business literature has evolved from classical business approaches toward a “Positive Organizational Behavior” perspective in recent years, with Life Orientation emerging as a prominent (bright yellow) rising trend. This study documents the gaps in the integration process of the psychology-based Life Orientation theory into business literature with quantitative data. The identified theoretical dilution provides a strong methodological rationale for future Meta-Analytic Structural Equation Modeling (MASEM) studies aimed at synthesizing fragmented empirical findings.
