Abstract

A new dwarf Polygonum L. species, Polygonum muhammetdalcii, is described from Hatay Province, Türkiye, and compared with the allied species P. corrigioloides and P. polycnemoides. It is distinguished by a combination of vegetative and reproductive characters. The specimens display prostrate and erect-branched growth forms with consistently blackish-purple stems. Leaves are petiolate and concentrated near the stem base, whereas the smaller bracts are reduced upward. The ochrea is 3–8 mm, 8–10-veined, usually multipartite below, and one- or two-partite to entire above.
