Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges, facilitators, and employee resistance that managers encounter during the digital transformation process. In-depth interviews were conducted with senior managers from various sectors to gather qualitative data, which was then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that the digital transformation process is both complex and multidimensional. A total of 22 managers participated in the interviews. The managers identified the primary challenges in the digital transformation process as updating technological infrastructure, enhancing employees’ digital competencies, and managing high costs. They also emphasized significant issues related to strategic planning deficiencies and change management. On the positive side, digital transformation was found to offer various advantages, such as increased efficiency in business processes, quick access to information, improved customer satisfaction, and competitive advantage. Managers expressed that digital tools make business processes more flexible and effective. Employee resistance to change emerged as a major barrier in the digital transformation process. In conclusion, for the successful management of digital transformation, strategic planning, effective communication, and training should be prioritized. This study provides valuable practical recommendations for leaders managing digital transformation processes.
