Abstract
Language is, naturally, an important tool when it comes to exchanging scientific knowledge. Scientists share their newly acquired scientific findings with the discourse community through linguistic texts. Based on the fundamental conditions of scientific endeavor, it is generally expected that findings are primarily obtained through objective investigation and analysis of the phenomenon in question, and that they are measurable and repeatable to ensure universal validity. Accordingly, there is a prevailing view —not without reason— that scientific texts should be stylistically objective, clear, and precise, if possible, so that they appear to be linguistic products that are relatively far removed from the personality of the scientist, which is largely true. However, scientific texts also use linguistic means that can be interpreted as indications of the author as an entity. The aim of this article is to linguistically examine such linguistic means that contribute to the evaluation of scientific knowledge. 6 research articles from literary studies were selected as examples for the purpose of qualitative analysis and examined using relevant linguistic criteria.
