Abstract

Adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder, which is a noncommon tumor-like lesion, is encountered in 2-5 % of all cholecystectomy cases. Adenomyomatosis mostly accompanies cholelithiasis and it is responsible for thickening of the gallbladder wall which can cause confusion with carcinoma in terms of clinical symptoms. A 43-year old male patient undergone laparoscopic cholecystectomy due to pre-diagnosis of acute cholesistis and gallbladder tumor. In the sections of the galdbladder, 5x4x1.5 cm lesion was observed which diffuse the galdbladder wall. There was a lesion of 5x4x1,5 cm in dimensions at the wall of gallbladder. The case diagnosed as adenomyomatosis after histopathological examination. It is important to identify adenomyomatosis. The surgeons can be mistaken since it is a non-common lesion which has similar characteristics with carcinoma. Additionally, it should be reminded that adenomyomatosis might lead other benign or malignant lesions rarely.
