Abstract

Leiomyomas are the most common benign lesions of the esophagus and frequently occur in the lower third part of esophagus. Leiomyomas arising from muscularis propria are strictly limited. Leiomyomas, usually asymptomatic, increase significantly in their symptoms with increasing diameters. Accepted treatment of esophageal leiomyomas is surgical enucleation. We present the diagnosis and treatment stages of a patient who had a feeling of stabbing pain for about one year.
