Abstract

The sexual partner of the woman who has vaginismus problem is called vaginismus man. It is thought that male sexual partner has an important role in the emergence, chronicity or spontaneous disappearance of vaginismus. Proper management of vaginismus man in the treatment process is one of the most important determinants of treatment success. The specialist who directs the treatment should take a special approach that takes into account the temperament of the vaginismus man, his attitude towards the problem and his wife. It is reported that there is no association between these problems in addition to the opinion that vaginismus man may have a higher rate of sexual dysfunction compared to the general population. Sexual dysfunction associated with vaginismus and seen in men can easily be overlooked when not considered as a couple’s problem. However, it is controversial whether this is a primary disorder that has been present since the beginning or a secondary disorder that occurs later in response to vaginismus. It is important to determine the sexual prognosis and the quality of the couple’s sexual life. Vaginismus treatment should be carried out with an approach that treats the problem as a problem of the “vaginismus couple”, and includes urologists and men from the outset in the treatment process.
