Abstract

This study investigates the effects of different production durations in 3D-printed temporary restorations on physical and surface properties such as color parameters, surface roughness, hardness, and contact angle. A total of 30 specimens (10 × 10 × 2 mm) were fabricated using a methacrylate-based temporary restoration resin in A1 shade, with three production times (20, 40, and 60 minutes). All samples underwent a standard post-curing process. Color measurements were performed using a spectrophotometer, surface roughness was measured with a contact profilometer, micro-hardness with a Vickers hardness tester, and contact angle by the sessile drop method. Data were analyzed using one-way and two-way ANOVA (p < 0.05). No statistically significant differences were found in surface roughness among groups, although a decreasing trend was observed with longer production times. Hardness and contact angle values increased significantly with extended production time (p < 0.05). Among color parameters, L*, b*, C, and h values showed significant variations, whereas the a* value remained unchanged. In conclusion, production time has a significant influence on surface and physical properties, particularly hardness and wettability, and optimizing it may enhance the durability and aesthetic performance of temporary restorations in clinical applications.
