Abstract
This study examines the relationship between chronic disease management and psychosocial work factors—namely workload, job control, and social support—among family physicians working in family health centers. The study population included 144 family physicians, and data were obtained from 128 participants (88.9% of the population) using the Physician Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) and the Swedish Demand–Control–Support Questionnaire. Data were analyzed with SPSS 25.0. Results indicated that social support was the strongest positive predictor of chronic disease management (β= 0.595; p<0.001), while workload had a significant negative effect (β= –0.194; p= 0.010). Job control demonstrated a negative but statistically non-significant relationship (β= –0.108; p= 0.075). The model explained 56.2% of the variance in chronic disease management (R²= 0.562). These findings suggest that the effectiveness of chronic disease management among family physicians is influenced not only by clinical competencies but also by psychosocial factors such as workload balance and perceived social support.
