Abstract

Training science teachers play a critical role in enhancing scientific literacy, cultivating innovative individuals, and fostering economic development. In this context, examining the science teacher training systems of countries with different socio-economic and cultural structures, such as the Netherlands, New Zealand, and Turkey, provides significant opportunities to understand the reasons for international achievement differences and to draw conclusions regarding education policies. These three countries exhibit different approaches in their teacher training systems. While the Netherlands adopts a technology and innovation-focused teacher education model, New Zealand prioritizes cultural inclusiveness. Turkey, on the other hand, employs a central examination-based approach in teacher selection. This study aims to contribute to the development of internationally applicable strategies for science teacher education in Türkiye by examining the similarities and differences between the education models of these countries. This research is a comparative education study. The document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used to collect the research data. Based on the findings obtained, recommendations have been made for practitioners and future research in areas such as literacy, internship practices, and admissions to teacher training institutions.
