Abstract

Aerial photographs serve as a valuable data source in remote sensing and photogrammetry studies due to their high spatial resolution and geometric accuracy. These images are commonly used for purposes such as orthophoto generation and Digital Surface Model (DSM) production. While orthophotos provide geometrically corrected visual data suitable for measurements, DSMs represent the three-dimensional structure of the Earth's surface. Such data play a critical role in monitoring changes in urban density, conducting morphological analyses, and tracking land use transformations. In this context, photogrammetric aerial photographs from the years 1976, 2023, and 2024, obtained from the General Command of Mapping, were utilized for a selected study area in the Yeşilyurt district of Malatya province. Orthophotos and DSMs were generated from these images, and elevation difference analyses were performed by comparing DSMs from different years. The results reveal detailed structural changes over time, as well as increases or decreases in building density within the study area.
