Abstract

Despite rapid advances in science and technology in the field of modern medicine, traditional and complementary medicine (TCM) continues to maintain its place in global healthcare systems. Nearly more than half of women in menopause use TCM. Since the menopausal period brings many health problems that affect quality of life, such as vasomotor symptoms, TCM methods are needed to get through this period healthily. This review is a traditional review type and aims to provide up-to-date information on TCM applications and midwifery care during the menopausal period. Studies have shown that GETAT methods used during menopause include music, yoga, biofeedback, meditation, hypnosis, acupuncture, acupressure, phytoestrogens, aromatherapy, massage, exercise, vitamins and minerals, reiki, and reflexology. Looking at the effects of these methods, music reduces depression and improves sleep and quality of life; yoga reduces menopausal symptoms and improves anxiety and depression; meditation improves menopausal complaints; hypnosis reduces anxiety and improves sleep quality; massage improves menopausal symptoms and somatic complaints, biofeedback reduces hot flashes, acupuncture improves psychological symptoms, acupressure is effective in reducing menopausal symptoms and improves quality of life, phytoestrogens reduce menopausal symptoms, vitamin E improves sleep quality, magnesium and calcium are effective in preventing fracture risk, aromatherapy reduces menopausal symptoms, Reiki reduces urogenital symptoms, reflexology reduces hot flashes, night sweats, and fatigue, and therapeutic massage improves sleep quality. Midwives can help women cope with symptoms during menopause by keeping up with current research, providing information about GETAT applications, and offering quality healthcare services.
