Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate relations between different native ecological conditions of Korkuteli and Cevizli district of Antalya (Turkey) and growth and flowering characteristics of Consalida orientalis (Gay) Schröd. native populations which natively grown these areas and showed very similar growth and flowering behavior under equal greenhouse growing conditions. Correlations between growth and flowering characteristics of plant were also determined. Within the limits of ecological conditions of Korkuteli and Cevizli native areas, altitude, rainfall and soil texture (silt loam), EC values and magnesium contents were positively correlated with plant height, main stem diameter, length, diameter and the number of secondary inflorescences. On the other hand, significant negative correlations were determined between temperatures and texture (sandy clay), pH values, calcium and potassium contents of soils and the most growth and flowering characteristics of plants. With respect to these growth and flowering characteristics, the best results were recorded in plants grown under Cevizli ecological conditions which had higher altitude, rainfall, and EC values and magnesium contents of soils, and lower temperatures and soil pH values, calcium and potassium contents than Korkuteli ecological conditions. Correlation analysis on growth and flowering characteristics of C. orientalis plants indicated that there were significant positive relations between the most of characteristics considered in this study.
