Bu çalışmanın amacı Tokat, yöresinde başarıyla yetiştirilebilecek yüksek verimli turp çeşitlerini belirlemektir. Bu amaçla 30 .Nisan 1988 ve 4 Ağustos 1988 tarihlerinde ekim yapılmıştır; 30 Nisan ekim döneminde denemeye alınan çeşitlerden Houso king, f-i Hybrid TAE-BAEK ve kırmızı turp çeşitleri bu döneme uyum gösterirken diğer çeşitler % 100 oranında tohuma kalkmışlardır. 4 Ağustos ekim dönemine ise denemeye alınan bütün çeşitler uyum göstermiş olup en yüksek verim 80.4 ton/ha ile House king çeşidinden alınmıştır.
